It’s Not Weird to Say I Love You is a coming-of-age story about two fifteen-year-olds navigating a typical mid-90s public school experience, complete with peer pressure, social anxiety, family and academic expectations, and bullies. It also holds space for the trauma experienced by one of the central characters. Subjects brought to light over the course of this character’s journey include parental death, physical and psychological abuse within the home, and self-harm.
