We'll see. ❤️

Good on Annie giving her skin a break. One thing that definitely helped me after years of prescription acne stuff was to stop using acne wash and stop wearing any kind of all over face makeup.

There were so many products out there that did more harm than good. Pity we all believed we needed them to feel better about ourselves. I often think about the boy I had my first serious crush on. He had terrible acne, and I didn't care. I still thought he was the bees knees.

There's a girl I see come through the lunch line with her face PLASTERED with foundation that just paints her acne flesh-colored and I think it looks more gross than if she just left it uncovered. But I've been there, so I get feeling like you need to at least look like you're making an effort not to inflict your ugliness on others. 😥

"...and I put clean sheets on my bed. That one was weird. I don’t know why I did that." I believe it is what we call "hedging our bets", Annie. Like shaving our legs, wanting to be ready, just in case. It is admirable that Annie is backing away from Danielle. Girls most often hold on to old "friends" even when they are toxic.

Yes. Hence the old refrain, “I shaved my LEGS FOR THIS?!” 😂 Toxic friendships are tricky to escape when you’re young and your world is small. Not that being part of a bigger world makes them any less tricky to avoid.

I can't wait for the next chapter!

I was blessed not to have acne young. I was already uber short and a social outcast, I didn't need acne too. My mom dressed me weird until highschool when I finally was allowed to buy my own clothes!

I had it pretty bad in high school. My brother had it worse. I was a music and theater kid, so I wasn't really trying to hang with the "cool" crowd anyway. I was comfortable hanging with my fellow dorks. And truthfully, more people had pimples than didn't during those years. We all still found reasons to crush on each other, and torment each other, regardless of what we looked like. 💜😂

Good for Danielle reaching out to Annie like that, but great for Annie to keep her boundaries. Loved Annie's family meeting (which proved to everyone this visit is a big deal). Did she self-edit number 4? 😉

Ha! No! That was Substack editing my list without my knowledge. Fixed it. Good catch. 😁

Fingers crossed the family holds up their end of the Sunday breakfast bargain.

Until next Wednesday anyway. ☺️
